Black Volkswagen campervan with a raised Skyline pop-top roof at M-Craft

Skyline pop-top roofs, installed to M-Craft standards

A Skyline roof is a sound choice, but the fitting matters just as much as the roof itself. We plan the reinforcement, sealing, interior finish and electrical work around your van as one complete job.

    Frequently Asked Questions

A few straightforward answers about vehicle suitability, specification, fitting and quotations. If your question is not covered, just get in touch.

There is no single Skyline roof we recommend for every van. We look at the vehicle, wheelbase, layout, roof profile, opening direction, bed, canvas and finish before suggesting the right combination.

Often, yes — but we confirm suitability from the exact model, generation, wheelbase, conversion stage and intended use. Send us the registration and vehicle details and we will check before quoting.

We follow Skyline’s current pricing for the main roof and Skyline-supplied options. Where lighting or electrical work is involved, we quote our own specification using components and wiring methods we know and trust. View Skyline’s current price list:

Tell us about your van — registration, model, year, wheelbase, conversion stage and how you plan to use it. We will check the suitable options and provide an installed quotation for your vehicle.

How we prepare, reinforce and finish the roof

The work you cannot see is just as important as the roof itself. We treat preparation, reinforcement, sealing and finishing as core parts of the installation.

    Get in Touch

    Preparation

Before any cutting starts, we protect the vehicle, check the measurements and service routes, and confirm the position of the roof opening.

    Reinforcement and fit

We fit and align the specified reinforcement and roof components as a complete system, taking account of any requirements for the individual vehicle.

    Sealing and finishing

We check every sealing surface, along with the canvas and bed clearances, trims and visible interior finish, for a neat and durable result.

    The Skyline options we recommend

Skyline offers Standard, Aurora and Skylow roof ranges, with a choice of canvases, beds, finishes and accessories. We will talk you through the sensible options for your van and the way you plan to use it.

    Roof model and opening direction

The right choice depends on the vehicle, wheelbase, interior layout, preferred roof profile and whether a front- or rear-elevating roof works best with the conversion.

    Canvas, bed and finish

We consider the canvas type and colour, bed arrangement, mattress, colour coding and any roof-bar requirements together, so the specification works as a whole.

    Current pricing

Skyline’s options and prices can change, so we link to its current price list rather than copying figures here. We then provide an installed quotation for your own vehicle.

Lighting and electrics: our own specification

M-Craft fits Skyline roofs, but we carry out lighting and electrical work to our own specification. We use our preferred components, wiring methods and installation standards rather than Skyline’s standard accessory lighting packages.

    Get in Touch

    Planned with the whole conversion

We plan cable routes, switches, control locations and future access alongside the furniture, lining, roof movement and the van’s existing electrical system.

    Components we know and trust

We choose lighting and electrical components to suit the agreed system, the required finish and straightforward future servicing.

    Checked before handover

We test the lighting, switching and final installation before the van is handed back.

    Why we use Skyline roofs

We use Skyline because the range gives us practical choices for different vans and conversion layouts. M-Craft is listed by Skyline as an approved installer as part of their fitter network, but we still recommend each roof on its suitability for the individual van — not simply because it appears on a price list.

    Chosen for the van

We start with the vehicle, wheelbase, conversion layout and intended use, then recommend a roof configuration that makes sense for the job.

    Fitted as one complete job

We plan the roof, reinforcement, sealing, bed, trim and any electrical work together rather than treating them as separate accessories.

    Finished the M-Craft way

Our priority is a neat, durable installation that looks right inside and out. We check the finished job carefully before handover.

Which vans suit a Skyline roof?

Skyline lists roofs for several popular campervan platforms. We always confirm the exact roof and configuration against the individual vehicle before any work is agreed.

    Popular mid-sized vans

Skyline lists applications for Volkswagen T4, T5 and T6, Ford Transit Custom, Renault Trafic, Vauxhall Vivaro and Nissan Primastar.

    Larger vans

Skyline also lists options for Volkswagen Crafter and Mercedes Sprinter. Suitability depends on vehicle generation, wheelbase, layout and intended roof use.

    Checked before we quote

Send us the registration, model, year, wheelbase and conversion stage. We will confirm fitment and flag any constraints rather than assume compatibility.

How M-Craft fits a Skyline roof

Fitting a pop-top affects the vehicle structure, weather sealing and interior finish. We treat it as a complete conversion stage, with each part of the job considered from the first assessment through to handover.

    Get in Touch

    Before work begins

We confirm the vehicle details, roof specification, opening direction, conversion layout, existing services and agreed finish before work begins.

    During installation

We protect the vehicle and work through the job in a clear sequence: preparation, roof opening, reinforcement, fitting, sealing, trim and any agreed electrical work.

    Final checks and handover

Before handover, we check the roof operation, alignment, clearances, visible finish and every agreed accessory.
